Héctor Jr. (Héctor Hugo Jardón Rodríguez, born December 31st, 1992, Toluca, México) is a contemporary saxophonist, composer, conductor, and arranger, currently residing in Metepec, Mexico.
Héctor is currently working in music and performing in and around Central Mexico. He stays busy producing and performing in concerts of varying genres and settings, from jazz combos to joint concerts with international artists. On top of his performing career, Héctor is dedicated to jump-starting a music ministry that will use the native musical roots of other cultures to share the Christian gospel to other countries around the world.
Héctor Jr. has also released two solo albums, with a third on the way. His most recent album, Mil Ideas, features all original songs, written and performed by Héctor, and can be previewed and purchased on iTunes, Amazon, etc. Héctor has performed with several bands and artists, including Jorge Romano, Tom Wopat, and Big Band Jazz Mexiquense, and he has participated in various recordings as a soloist and as a sideman with his father.
The biggest musical influence for Héctor was his father, Héctor Jardón Sr., a Toluca-based singer and performer. Since he was young, Héctor Jr.’s musical talents have been apparent, andhe started taking piano lessons at the age of 6. After several years of musical education, his father bought him a saxophone at the age of 14, and he entered the Conservatorio de Música del Estado de México (Conservatory of Music of the State of Mexico), where he earned an Associate’s Degree in Jazz Studies. Hector recently graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Saxophone Performance from Colorado Christian University, where he was the three-time recipient of the Sara Metzner-Boal Award for Outstanding Student in Music and was selected as Outstanding Senior in Music for the 2016 graduating class.
